Obituary

Helene G. Baker, 84, of Monessen, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, in Adult Assisted Living, Inc., Dunlevy. She was born Nov. 17, 1918, in Monessen, a daughter of the late Nicholas Goysich and Magdelena Kozan. She was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church of Monessen, American Croatian Ladies Auxiliary, Eagles Aerie No. 2399, Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 194, and French Club Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Baker was an avid bingo and card player, as well as a wonderful cook, specializing in ethnic Croatian food. She is survived by her loving children and caring family, daughter, Roxanne Dee Mandarino and husband Lou of Belle Vernon, three sons and daughters-in-law, Jonathan A. and Linda Baker of Belle Vernon, Donald R. and Myrna Baker of Tampa, Fla., and Dr. James V. and Mary Ellen Baker of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., six grandchildren, Rebecca, Beverly, Tina, Jonathan, James III, and Courtney, two great-grandchildren, Bryan and Benjamin of Texas, two sisters, Betty Peran of Berwyn, Ill., and Catherine Niemi of Monessen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James V. Baker, who passed away April 2, 2000, two brothers, Leonard and Alphonse Ritmanich, and one sister, Barbara Zoretich Cernic. Friends will be received at the RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, a Golden Rule Funeral Home, from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Services will be held Monday, Dec. 30, at 9 a.m. with prayers at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Epiphany of Our Lord Church, Monessen. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
