Obituary

Helen R. Shepler, 85, of 1520 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, formerly of Belle Vernon, died Monday, June 14, 2004, at the Mennonite Home. Born in Fayette City, she was a daughter of the late John Francis and Mary Gratz Kruper. Mrs. Shepler was a valedictorian of Fayette High School, Class of 1937. She was employed as a cook for the St. Sebastian Catholic Church Parish House. She also worked as a clerk at the former S&H Green Stamp Store in Belle Vernon. Mrs. Shepler was a former member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church and current member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Lancaster. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting, baking cookies and making candy. She is survived by one daughter-in-law, Janet Gordon Shepler of East Petersburg, one brother-in-law, George A. Pascoe Sr. of New Castle, two nieces and five nephews, and five great-nieces and three great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Shepler, in 1965, one son, W. Glenn Shepler, in 1996, two sisters, Delores K. Pascoe and Veronica. F. Kruper, and one brother, John E. Kruper. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Helen's life celebration Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Sebastian Catholic Church on Saturday, July 17. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be sent to a local hospice center. Arrangements are being handled by the FRED F. GROFF INC. FUNERAL SERVICES, Lancaster.
