Obituary

Helen Hegedus Pokol of Edison,N.J.,formerly of Fairhope (Belle Vernon) died Wednesday,Jan.16,1985,at 5:50 p.m. in St.Peter's Hospital in New Brunswick,N.J.,following a lengthy illness. She was 68. Born in Washington Township on July 27,1916,she was a daughter of the late Paul and Mary Butsman Hegedus. Mrs.Pokol was a Catholic by faith. She was a retired cafeteria worker for Rutgers University in New Jersey. In addition to her parents,she was preceded in death by two brothers,Paul and Louis hegedus. Surviving are her husband,Steve Pokol in Edison,a son,Steve Pokol Jr.,of Deland,Fla.,a daughter,Mrs.Brenda Schmitt of Edison,four grandchildren,two great-grandchildren,three sisters,Mrs.Hazel Eland of Fairhope,Mrs.Bertha Astle of Michigan and Mrs.George (Irene) Dohanich of Fairhope. Friends will be received in the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home,Fayette City,Saturday from 4 to 9 p.m.,all day Sunday and on Monday,Jan.21,until 11 a.m. at which time a blessing service will be held with Monsignor Andrew D.Parvensky,pastor of St.Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church of Monessen,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
