Obituary

Helen M.Jackson,89,of Fourth Street,Belle Vernon,died Friday,Dec.8,2000,in Mon Valley Hospital. A daughter of the late William and Alice Grifith Hammitt,she was born July 28,1911,in Belle Vernon. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon,she was a member of the Char-Belle Free Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law,Gerald and Violet Jackson,Clinton Jackson,all of Belle Vernon,a daughter and son-in-law,Linda and Ray Heslep of Glen Burnie,Md.,two sisters,Evelyn L.Grant of Belle Vernon and Eleanor Bajoczky of Tallahassee,Fla.,seven grandchildren,nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents,she was preceded in death by her husband,William E.Jackson in 1975,a daughter,Carolyn Pilarcik in 1965, a sister,Amy Sterner in 1997,and a brother,Herman Hammitt in 1976. Friends will be received in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC.,a Golden Rule Member Firm,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.and on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home on Monday at 11:30 a.m.,with the Rev.Eugene C.Spear officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
