Obituary

Helen Geneva Wolford, 100, of Belle Vernon, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. A daughter of the late Clinton and Estelle Taylor Curtis, she was born in New Haven, OH on October 7, 1921. A resident of Belle Vernon for the past 50 years, Helen retired as a supervisor from Brookevale Clothing where she was skilled as a master seamstress. After retirement, Helen continued as a seamstress at Eisenburgs in Monessen and Zelenski’s Bridal in Charleroi. Affectionately known as “Granny,” she loved entertaining family and friends with tales of her land and sea travels. Helen was an avid dancer, often seen on the dance floor at local venues. She is survived by her son, Carl “Bussy” Wolford, and his wife, Carol, of Monessen and her son, Robert Wolford, of Ruffs Dale; nine grandchildren, Robert F. Wolford, Carla Kuchmeroski, Traci Fedrick, Robert L. Wolford, Jack Wolford, Jeffrey Johnson, Sherri Zelensky, Chris Belczyk, and Lana Burgess; many great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Edward Wolford; a son, Jack Wolford; two daughters, Dolores Johnson and Mona Belczyk; three grandchildren, Karen Johnson, Charles Poland, and Michael Byrne; a great grandchild, Rachael Ladisic; and a sister, Hilda Lane. Friends will be received on Saturday from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. in the Ferguson Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 700 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon. A funeral service will begin at 8 P.M. with Pastor Sandy Fitzgibbons officiating.
