Obituary

Harry Dean, 40, a World War veteran of Kane, died Tuesday afternoon,September 9,1930 in the Kane Summit hospital from a fracture of the skull received when an automobile in which he was riding was forced off the Roosevelt highway near Sheffield. He never regained consciousness after the crash. The accident for which a truck was responsible, occurred last Friday morning. The dead man's father, John W. Dean, driver of the car, has injuries to the head,chest and arms,and Miss Hazel Hamilton of Erie, another passenger, has a deep gash in her forehead.  Though she is suffering from shock,her condition is not thought to be serious.  According to an account of the accident,the Dean machine was attempting to pass another car when Dean apparently lost control and struck the guard rail along the highway.  The car was badly damaged.  Surviving him are his parents,Mr.and Mrs. John W. Dean, and one son,John G. Dean,all living in Kane.
