Obituary

Harry Carney, Sr., 83, of 30 Main St, Belle Vernon, died Friday,December 27,1963 at 8:30 a.m. Born in Shawnee, Ohio, Nov. 21, 1880, he had been a Belle Vernon resident for the past 57 years. Mr. Carney retired 11 years ago from the Monessen plant of Pittsburgh Steel Co. He was a member of St Sebastian R, C. Church of Belle Vernon and the Holy Name Society of the church. Surviving are his widow, Etta Roe Carney; two sons, Thomas Scanlon and Harry Carney, Jr., both of Belle Vernon; three daughters, Mrs. Phoebe Duvuvuei of Belle Vernon, Mrs. Clarence (Irene) Strickland of Warren, Ohio, and Mrs. Julius (Margaret) Perry of BeHe Vernon; one brother, John Carney of Shawnee, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Kate Browning of Shawnee, Ohio, and Mrs. George (Anna) Leaver of Mesa, Ariz.; fifteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.  Friends will be received at the Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home, Belle Vernon, after 7 p.m.,Dec.28.  Prayer services will be held Monday,Dec.30,at 9:30 a.m.from the funeral home,with services of Requiem High Mass to follow at 10 a.m.from St. Sebastian R.C.Church,Belle Vernon.  The Rev. Martin J.O'Toole will officiate.  Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Shelby D.Ferguson,funeral director.
