A member of the American Legion of Monessen;he was a veteran of World War II. He formerly lived in Monessen and Belle Vernon R.D. He retired in February as an employee of the Monessen Rod Mill of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. Surviving are his widow;Anna Mae Vance Carlson;one son;Martin A.at home;one brother;Philip in Monessen. Friends will be received from 7 to 10 p.m.Monday and 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m.Tuesday at the Edwin Melenyzer Funeral Home;Monessen;where a service will be held Wednesday;April 5;at 1:30 p.m.with the Rev.Hartzell A.Michael of the Lynnwood Lutheran Church officiating.
