Glenn G. Anderson of 643 Speer St.,Belle Vernon,died Friday,July 29,1988,at 3 p.m. in Monongahela Valley Hospital,Carroll Township. Mr. Anderson was 86. He was born Aug. 27,1901,in Roscoe, a son of the late Joseph and Clara Tate Anderson. Mr. Anderson lived in Belle Vernon since 1932,having moved into the borough from Roscoe. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon. He was an employee of the P&LE Railroad Company for 28 years,retiring as chief clerk. From 1951 until 1969 he was a real estate and insurance broker in Belle Vernon,and from 1969 until 1971 he served as chief appraiser for the Wstmoreland County Inheritance Tax Division of the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue. Mr. Anderson was very active in Republican politics in North Belle Vernon and Westmoreland County,having run for both state and federal offices. He served as Republic Committeeman in North Belle Vernon for many years. He was a member of the F&AM Lodge 461 of California for 61 years,and also was a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Uniontown and Valley of Pittsburgh,and the Junior Order of the United American Mechanics of Greensburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Olive Harford in 1971, a brother,Joseph and a sister, Mary Bastin. Surviving are his wife, Elvira C. Anderson; one son and daughter-in-law,Jason and Margie Anderson of Bethel Park;three stepsons,David Metz of Monongahela,Curfoot Metz of Eagan, Minn and Edward Metz of Abilene, Texas; one sister,Frances Lilley of Roscoe;one granddaughter,April Ander and six step-grandchildren. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon. Services will be held from the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m.,with Dr. Thomas St. Clair,pastor of the First United Methodist Church,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Masonic services by the Mon Valley Lodge 461 of California will be held in the funeral home on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
