Obituary

Glenn Easton Patterson,83,a lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon area,died Sunday,Sept.27,1998,in Mon Valley Hospital,Carroll Township. Born April 23,1915,in Pricedale,he was a son of the late Offie and Agnes Easton Patterson. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon where he served two terms as an elder. He was also a member of the Presbyterian Men's Association. Mr.Patterson was a board member of the Belle Vernon Cemetery Association,serving as secretary. He worked for over 50 years at the Melenyzer Furniture Store where he rose to the position of manager. During World War II,Mr.Patterson was a master sergeant in the ordinance department in the Pacific Theater of Operations. Survivors include his wife of 58 years,Elnor Washabaugh Patterson,a son and daughter-in-law,Wayne E.and Barbara Gluvna Patterson of Pleasant Hills,one granddaughter,Meghan Elizabeth Patterson of Pleasant Hills, one sister,Mrs.Samuel (Betty) Scaccia of Belle Vernon,and several nieces and nephews. In addtion to his parents,he was preceded in death by five brothers,Tom,Lloyd,Warren,James and Floyd Patterson. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Rhome Funeral Home Inc.,1209 Grand Blvd.,Monessen. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m.in First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon with the Rev.James Ramsey,pastor,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Rhome Funeral Home Inc.is in charge of arrangements.
