Georgia E.Shirley;74;of Brownstown;Fayette City R.D.1;died Tuesday;April 21;1992;at 8:17 a.m. in Mon Valley Hospital Inc.following a lengthy illness. She was born in Clifton Forge;Va.;May 28;1917;a daughter of the late Harry and Rella Crook Smoot Sr. Mrs.Shirley was a member of the First Christian Church of Belle Vernon. She is survived by two sons;Matthew Shirley Jr.of Fayette City R.D.1 and Charles Shirley of Spraggs;three daughters;Mrs.Thomas (Mary) Strong of Fayette City R.D.1;Patricia (Patty) Usher and Georgette Smoot;both of Belle Vernon;eight grandchildren;and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents;she was preceded in death by her husband;Matthew Shirley Sr.in 1971. Friends will be received at the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home;Fayette City;Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.and Friday until 11 a.m.;the hour of services in the funeral home with the Rev.Donald Bowers;pastor;First Christian Church;Belle Vernon;officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Howard W.Mccrory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
