Obituary

George (Wake) W.Campbell,72,of Mobile,Ala.,a former Monessen resident,died in his sleep Saturday,May 20,1972,at 7:20 a.m.at his home. Born July 11,1899,in Lynchburg,Va.,he was a son of the late Louis and Virginia Campbell. He moved to Monessen in 1920. A 44-year employee of the Wire Department at the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.,he retired in 1965. He moved to Mobile following the death of his wife,Mrs.Hattie Campbell,on March 22,1967. Surviving are two sons,Rayford and George Jr.,both of Washington,D.C.,two daughters,Virginia Campbell of District Heights,Md.,and Mrs.Felton (Peggy) Littles of Mobile,with whom the deceased made his home,two sisters,Mrs.Willie Clark of Monessen and Mrs.Arnetha Stokes of New York City,a brother,Clifford Campbell,of Detroit,and 16 grandchildren. Friends will be received after 2 p.m.Tuesday at the Draper Funeral Home,608 Sixth St.,Monesssen. Services will be held at 11 a.m.Thursday in Mt.Calvary Baptist Church of Monessen,with the Rev.Edgar Archie in charge. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  B.C.Draper is the funeral director.
