Obituary

George Vargo, 68, of Rostraver Township, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006, in Mon Valley Hospital Inc. He was born March 19, 1937, in Fayette City, a son of the late Andrew Sr. and Anna Repan Vargo. He was a member of the Perryopolis United Methodist Church. Mr. Vargo was the former steward of over 40 years at American Legion Post 484 in Fayette City and a former member of the Naomi Athletic Club. He is survived by his wife, Anne Randall Vargo, two sons and daughters-in- law, George and Sharon Vargo, of Washington Township, and Michael and Athena Vargo, of Belle Vernon, two daughters and one son-in-law, Louise Cis and Ted Horrell, of Fayette City, and Karen Lind, of Belle Vernon, three sisters and one brother-in-law, Agnes Strychalski, of Belle Vernon, Dolores and Stephen Yelich, of Irwin, and Dorothy Weitzel, of Belle Vernon, two brothers and one sister-in-law, Joseph and Arlene Vargo, of Fayette City, and Leonard Vargo, of Markleysburg, three sisters-in-law, Barbara Vargo, of Perryopolis, Wilma Vargo, of Wellsburg, W.Va., and Catherine Vargo, of Fayette City, six grandchildren, Alison Crowson, Aimee Gillingham, Kari Horrell, Garrett Horrell, George Vargo II and Kala Vargo, three great-grandchildren, Nina and Mia Gillingham and Paige Crowson. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Edward, Thomas, Andrew Jr. and Herb Vargo, and one sister, Mary Vargo Karelli. Friends will be received in the ELEY- McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., 334 Main St., Fayette City, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday, Jan. 7, in the Perryopolis United Methodist Church from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of service in the church with the Rev.
