George Hess,67, of 106 Mikula Road,Belle Vernon,was pronounced dead on arrival Sunday,Jan. 16,1972 at 10:45 a.m. at Brownsville General Hospital. He was born in Allenport Aug. 8, 1904,a son of the late William and Averilla Bell Hess. He was a retired coal miner. He was a member of the American Federation of Police No. 6, Pittsburgh. Surviving are his widow, Leona Rodgers Hess; five daughters, Mrs. Catherine Muztafago of McKeesport,Mrs. Richard (Betty) Durr of Fayette City,Maxine and Karen at home, and Mrs. Kathy Cathers of Belle Vernon; seven grandchildren;two brothers, Robert Hess of Canonsburg and John Hess of Belle Vernon;three sisters, Mrs. Carl Garrick of Monessen,Mrs. Clarence Davis of Monessen and Mrs. Anna Byrepes of Baltimore,Md. He was preceded in death bya son, Buddy on Oct. 1,1964. Friends are being received at the Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home,Fayette City, where a service will be held Wednesday,Jan. 19. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
