Obituary

George R.Holbrook Sr.76,of (Fairhope) Belle Vernon,died Thursday,Dec.4,1997,in the Greenery Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center,Canonsburg,after a lengthy illness.He was born Jan. 8,1921, in
Belle Vernon, a son of the late
Roy and Bessie Price Holbrook.
He was a retired railroader
with the P&L Railroad. He was a veteran of World War II,having served as a first lieutenant in the U.S.Army Air Corps. He was Protestant by faith.
Survivors include his wife,
Elvira (Romito) Holbrook, one
son and daughter-in-law, Lewis
and Diana Holbrook of Monongahela,
one daughter, Dian
Holbrook of Pittsburgh, two
grandchildren, Abby and Luke
Holbrook, one brother, John
Holbrook of Belle Vernon, and
two sisters, Betty Holbrook of
North Carolina, and Ruth Sterner
of Belle Vernon.
In addition to his parents, he
was preceded in death by one
son. George R. Holbrook Jr., on
July 11, 1975.
Friends will be received in
the Eley/McCrory Funeral
Home Inc., Fayette City, on Friday
from 4 to 9 p.m. and Saturday
until 11 a.m.when funeral services will be held in the funeral home. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Eley/McCrory Funeral Home Inc.is in charge of the arrangements.
