George R.Holbrook Sr.76;of (Fairhope) Belle Vernon;died Thursday;Dec.4;1997;in the Greenery Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center;Canonsburg;after a lengthy illness.He was born Jan. 8;1921; in
Belle Vernon; a son of the late
Roy and Bessie Price Holbrook.
He was a retired railroader
with the P&L Railroad. He was a veteran of World War II;having served as a first lieutenant in the U.S.Army Air Corps. He was Protestant by faith.
Survivors include his wife;
Elvira (Romito) Holbrook; one
son and daughter-in-law; Lewis
and Diana Holbrook of Monongahela;
one daughter; Dian
Holbrook of Pittsburgh; two
grandchildren; Abby and Luke
Holbrook; one brother; John
Holbrook of Belle Vernon; and
two sisters; Betty Holbrook of
North Carolina; and Ruth Sterner
of Belle Vernon.
In addition to his parents; he
was preceded in death by one
son. George R. Holbrook Jr.; on
July 11; 1975.
Friends will be received in
the Eley/McCrory Funeral
Home Inc.; Fayette City; on Friday
from 4 to 9 p.m. and Saturday
until 11 a.m.when funeral services will be held in the funeral home. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Eley/McCrory Funeral Home Inc.is in charge of the arrangements.
