Obituary

George P.Driesin,63,of 102 Wilson St.,Belle Vernon,died suddenly Wednesday,Feb.23,1972,at 11:30 a.m.in Livingstone,Zambia,Africa,where he and his wife were vacationing. Born in Charleroi on May 21,1908,he was the son of the late Frank A.and Marie Schruers Driesen. Mr.Driesen had lived in Belle Vernon for 58 years. He retired in 1971 from his work as a machinist for Pittsburgh Consolidated Coal Co.,Library. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon,the National Rifle Association,the Pennsylvania Gun Collectors Association and the Numismatic Association. Preceded in death by a sister and two brothers,he is survived by his widow,Mrs.Myrellia Hicks Driesen,a daughter,Mrs.Gust (Judith) Avrakotos of Annandale,Va.,one grandson and a sister,Mrs.Christine Driesen Dobas of Belle Vernon. Friends will be received from 7 to 10 p.m.Thursday at the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon. Services will be held at the funeral home Friday,March 3,1972,at 1:30 p.m.,with the Rev.Seth P.Bower,pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D.Ferguson,funeral director.
