Obituary

George P. Howarth Sr., 85, of Pricedale, passed away Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. A son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Morgan Howarth, he was born April 26, 1924, in Monessen. He had resided in Pricedale since 1933, was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and retired from the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Company after 38 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Elsie Locke Howarth, with whom he celebrated 58 years of marriage on Nov. 22, 2009, two sons and daughters-in-law, George P. and Kathleen Musial Howarth, of Monessen, and Jack and Charity Howarth, of Cincinnati, Ohio, one sister, Margaret Lisser, of Jacksonville, and one grandson, Taylor Howarth. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and John Howarth. Friends will be received noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, www.fergusonfuneralhomeandcrematory.com. Funeral services will be in the funeral home Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Pastor James Mimidis officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the building fund of the Pricedale Union Church.
