George P. Howarth Sr.; 85; of Pricedale; passed away Sunday; Feb. 14; 2010; in Monongahela Valley Hospital. A son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Morgan Howarth; he was born April 26; 1924; in Monessen. He had resided in Pricedale since 1933; was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War; and retired from the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Company after 38 years of service. Survivors include his wife; Elsie Locke Howarth; with whom he celebrated 58 years of marriage on Nov. 22; 2009; two sons and daughters-in-law; George P. and Kathleen Musial Howarth; of Monessen; and Jack and Charity Howarth; of Cincinnati; Ohio; one sister; Margaret Lisser; of Jacksonville; and one grandson; Taylor Howarth. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by two brothers; Harry and John Howarth. Friends will be received noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC.; 700 Broad Avenue; Belle Vernon; 724-929-5300; www.fergusonfuneralhomeandcrematory.com. Funeral services will be in the funeral home Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Pastor James Mimidis officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
