Obituary

G. Nash Jarvis,107 Price Ave.,Belle Vernon,died Friday,Feb. 6,1987 at 7:30 p.m. in Mon Valley Hospital.  He was 89.  Mr. Jarvis was born in Pittsburgh on March 31,1897, a son of the late William W. and Hester Nash Jarvis.  He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon. He was a member of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659,where he was one of three remainig WWI veterans.  Mr. Jarvis was a life member of McKinley Lodge 318 F & A M and was a member of both Allegheny Commandry No. 35 and Allegheny Royal Arts Chapter 217. He came to Belle Vernon in 1927 from Pittsburgh and retired 30 years ago as plant engineer for the former Pittsburgh Steel Co, in Monessen.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Schmidt Jarvis,two sisters and two brothers. Survivors include a son, Charles S. of Roanoke, Va.; a daughter, Hester Crosser at home; two sisters, Mabel Jarvis and Helen Jarvis,both of Etna;five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  Friends will be received at the Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Charles LaPlaca,pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon,officiating.  Burail will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Belle Vernon American Legion services will be held at the funeral home Monday at 7 p.m. and also full military honors will be given at the time of burial at the cemetery.
