Obituary

George M.Waggett.72,of Belle Vernon,died Wednesday,April 23,1997,at 11:25 a.m. in Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh.  Born Nov. 22,1924,in Allison,he was the son of the late Albert and Blanche Baird Waggett. A resident of Belle Vernon for more than 50 years, Mr. Waggett was formerly of Library. He was retired from the Monessen Southwestern Railroad Company and the Monessen plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. A veteran of Word War II,Mr. Waggett was a member of American Legion Post 659,Belle Vernon and Turners in Mononghela. He and his wife, Virginia Peroney Waggett,who survives, would have celebrated 50 years of marriage in July. Surviving, in addition to his wife,are two sons and daughters-in-law,Robert L. and Jean Waggett and Barry D. and Lori Waggett,all of Belle Vernon;two daughters, Mrs. John (Franci) Reed of Erath,La.,and Sharon K. Waggett of Pittsburgh;five brothers, Wilbur Waggett of Fort Worth, Texas,James Waggett of N. Olmstead,Ohio,Joseph Waggett of Huntsville,Ala,Aaron Waggett of Cleveland,Tenn.,and Verne Waggett of Portland, Ore.;one sister, Audrey Owens of Gastonville and seven grandchildren. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Albert Waggett. Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Mimidis of Pricedale Union Church officiating.  Interment will take place at the convenience of the family. Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 will conduct services in the funeral home Friday at 7 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.
