George J.Roberts;65;of Pricedale;died Tuesday;Oct.26;1993;in Mon Valley Hospital;Carroll Township. Mr.Roberts was born Jan.30;1928;in Monessen;a son of the late Lee Jackson Roberts and Mary Brown Roberts. He was retired from the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation;having worked as an open hearth rigger in the Monessen plant for 47 years. Mr.Roberts also served as a paratrooper for the U.S.Army during World War II. He was a member of the
Mentor Road Bible Church in Forward Township. Surviving are his wife;Leona Johnson Roberts;a son;Daniel Roy Roberts of Monessen;two daughters;Mrs.Robert (Jacqueline) Baluch of Connellsville and Mrs.Gary (Marlene) Haines of Charleroi;a brother;James E.Roberts of Detroit;Mich.;three sisters;Mrs.Robert (Betty) Adams of Belle Vernon;Mrs.Harry (Mary Ann) Kreuter of Monessen and Mrs.Leo (Loretta) Rice of Monessen;four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents;Mr.Roberts was also preceded in death by a son;Lee Jackson Robert in 1969;by a grandson;Jacob Allen Roberts;by four sisters;Ida Lee Maxwell;Nell Roberts;Alverta (Vernie) Hixenbaugh and Coletta Feick Brooks;and by one brother;Alvin Roberts. Friends will be received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the James C.Stump Funeral Home Inc.;Circle Drive;Sweeney Plan;Rostraver Township. Additional visitation will be held Friday from 10 a.m.to 11 a.m. in Mentor Road Bible Church;Forward Township. Services will be held at 11 a.m.in the church;with Pastor Phillip Gerard officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The James C.Stump Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
