Obituary

George J.Apodiakos,81,of Tyrol Pass,Belle Vernon,R.D.1,died on Sunday,April 15,1973,at 12:40 a.m. in St.Margaret's Hospital,Pittsburgh. Mr.Apodiakos,born in Chios,Greece,had been a Monessen area resident the past 53 years. He retired from the Allenport Works of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.in 1958. He was a member of St.Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church,Monessen. Surviving are his widow,Mary Mermigas Apodiakos,two daughters,Mrs.John (Lamona) Sfakianos of Baltimore,Md.and Mrs.Nick (Catherine) Aiatosis of Monessen,three sons,William,at home,John and Theodore,both of Monessen,11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren,two brothers,Nicholas,in Massachusetts and Xenos,in Greece,and one sister,Mrs.Marie Kritikou of Chios,Greece. Friends are being received at the Rhome Funeral Home,Monessen,where services will be held Wednesday at 12,30 p.m.,followed by additional rites at 1 p.m.in St.Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church,Monessen,with the Rev.James Stathakias,pastor,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Trisigon services will be held Tuesday at 8 p.m.at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers,contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of St.Spyridon Church. Rhome funeral directors in charge.
