George Fudge Bednar; 92; of Gillespie; Fayette City; passed away Monday; Oct. 28; 2013; in Country Care Manor surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 13; 1921; in Gillespie; Washington Township; son of the late Josef Bednar and the late Mary Matvej Bednar. George was a member of Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church; Charleroi; and retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; Allenport Plant. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. George is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by one brother; Joseph Bednar; four sisters; Anna Poprocky; Kathryn Vesely; Helen Bolchak and Margaret Buckley.
