Obituary

George F. White of Belle Vernon died suddenly on Saturday, May 8, 2004, at his home. He was born June 20, 1928, the only child of the late George H. and Gertrude Livingston White. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Mr. White was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Company, Monessen plant, where he worked for 38 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Marietta S. White. He is survived by two sons, Craig White of Orange Park, Fla., and James White of Smithfield, five grandchildren, Amanda, Craig P., and Kaitlyn of Orange Park, Fla., and Lindsey and Ashley of Smithfield. Burial was in Belle Vernon Cemetery. A memorial service will be held in June. Arrangements were handled by the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC. and CREMATION SERVICE, Belle Vernon. A blessing service was held yesterday in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC. AND CREMATION SERVICE, 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, for George F. White, 75, of Belle Vernon, who died Saturday, May 8, 2004. He was born June 25, 1928, a son of the late George H. and Gertrude Livingston White. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Mr. White retired from the Monessen plant of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II and a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659. Survivors include his wife, Florence White, with whom he would have celebrated nine years of marriage on May 20, 2004, two sons, Craig and Jim White, two stepsons, five grandchildren, and two stepgrandchildren. Burial was in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
