George F. Shipitz,50,of 391 May St.,Belle Vernon,died Sunday,Feb. 6,1972, at 9:30 p.m.in Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. Born in Monessen on Nov. 25,1921,he had also formerly lived in Fayette City before moving to Belle Vernon eight years ago. Mr. Shipitz was a member of St. Sebastian R.C.Church of Belle Vernon. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Belle Vernon Post of the American Legion. He was employed as a policeman at the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. Surviving are his widow,Mrs. Olga Komlos Shipitz;one son,George F.,Jr.,and one daughter,Helen Joyce Shipitz,both at home; one brother, Michael in New Jersey and four sisters,Mrs. Helen Preston of Concord,Calif.,Mrs. Mary Scalise of Charleroi,Mrs. Kathryn Andogo of Warren,Ohio,and Mrs. Emma Urick of Smithton. Friends will be received after 7 p.m. Monday at the Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where visiting hours are 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. A Prayer service will be held in the funeral home Wednesday,Feb. 9,1972,at 9:30 a.m.,followed by Requien High Mass in St. Sebastian R.C.Church,Belle Vernon,with the pastor,Msgr. Martin J. O'Toole,as celebrant. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D. Ferguson,funeral director.
