Obituary

George D. McFadyen, 85 of Bentleyville died Thursday September 20, 2012 following a brief illness. He was born October 24, 1926 in Wilmington, N.C. a son of the late George D. and Dolly Mills McFadyen. Mr. McFadyen was a veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Navy and had been employed by the Bentworth School District where he taught music and library science for over 35 years before retiring in 1986. He attended the First Presbyterian Church of California and was a member of the P.S.E.A.-R. He was also a 50 year member of the F & AM Lodge #237 of Beallsville, Uniontown Lodge of Perfection, Consistory of the Valley of Pittsburgh and a life member of the Syria Temple. On December 27, 1956 he married Monna Kurtz McFadyen who survives. Also surviving is a brother in law, W. Ronald Kurtz and wife Julia of Scenery Hill, a nephew, Ronald J. Kurtz and wife Mary Anne of Pittsburgh, and niece Mary Jo McAnulty and husband Bruce of Bentleyville. Mr. McFayden was the last of his immediate family. Deceased in addition to his parents are a brother, William McFadyen and a sister, Virginia Fergus. All funeral arrangements will be private and under the direction of the Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main St. Bentleyville, Arrangements will be officiated by Rev. Candace Cook and entombment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
