George C. Welch Jr.,85,of 500 Blind Lane,107 Belle Vernon Apartments,died Tuesday, Jan. 4,2000,at 9:30 p.m. in Mon Valley Hospital,Carroll Township. Born March 19,1914,in Fayette City,he was the son of the late George C. and Mary Elizabeth Mollard Welch Sr. A lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon community,he was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.,Allenport plant,where he worked as a laborer. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Fayette City. Mr. Welch was also a member of American Legion Post 659 and VFW Post 699,both of Belle Vernon. He is survived by his wife of 59 years,Louise Ambrose Welch. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by a brother, William F. Welch and a sister, Myrtle May. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Lleonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home,Family Owned and Operated,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with Elder John Kendall Sr. and Elder Jim Abbott of the Church of Jesus Christ, Roscoe,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. American Legion Post 659 and VFW Post 699 will conduct services Thursday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
