Obituary

George B.Lee,of 1268 Rostraver St.Monessen,died Thursday,Nov.20,1980 in the Mon Valley Hospital,Carroll Twp. He was 85. Born in Irvona,Clearfield County,Mr.Lee had been a Monessen resident for the past 51 years. Mr.Lee had been employed as a stationary engineer at the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel,Monessen Plant,until his retirement in 1963. He served as a former director of the Federal Credit Union at the steel plant. He was a veteran of World War I,having served with the U.S.Army Calvary. Mr.Lee was a member and former elder of the First Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the F&AM Oscelia Lodge 515,Oscelia,Pa.and the McKean Commandry No.80 and the VFW,both of Charleroi,Royal Arch Chapter No.290,Monessen,and the Syria Temple Shrine of Pittsburgh. Survivors include his widow,Beatrice Boyce Lee,two sons,Dr.Howard G.Lee,M.D.,of Phoenixville,Pa.,and Robert W.Lee of Richmond,Ind.,seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren,four sisters,Miss Sarah Lee,Mrs.Martha Pusey,Mrs.Glenn (Jenny) Lehman,and Mrs.Louis (Hazel) Shoft,all of Madera,Pa.,and two brothers,John and James Lee,also of Madera. Friends will be received in the Rhome Funeral Home Inc.,1209 Grand Blvd.,Monessen,on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Masonic services will be held Friday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home,with the Rev.Joseph Rial,pastor of the United Methodist Church of Monongahela,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Monessen Ambulance Service or a favorite charity. Rhome Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
