Obituary

George (Buddy) Anderson Burroughs Sr., 66,of 156 Madison Ave.,Uniontown,died Friday,Oct. 2,1998,in the Veterans Administration Hospital, Oakland.  He was born in Monessen on Aug. 8,1932,a son of the late George W. and Edith Burroughs.  Mr. Burroughs was a 1950 graduate of Monessen High School and attended Duffs Business School for two years.  He was a U.S. Army veteran,serving in the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. He also worked at the former Pittsburgh Steel Plant in Monessen.  Survivors include his wife, Fannie Marie Burroughs of Monessen;one son, George A. Burroughs Jr. of Monessen;a daughter and son-in-law,Deidra and Peter Thompson of Kettering,Md.;two sisters-in-law,Frances Carter and Constance Crawley,both of Monessen;and three brothers-in-law,Albert Crawley of Monessen,Harry Crawley of Ft. Lauderdale,Fla.,and Samuel Crawley of San Diego,Calif.and two grandchildren,Ondrea Nicole Burroughs of Troy,Ohio and Sydney Adele Thompson of Kettering,MD.  Also survived by an aunt,Helen Crosby of Silver Spring,Md.;many cousins,including Mr.and Mrs. Homer Gillis of Silver Spring,Md.,Mr.and Mrs. Allen Crosby and Louise Barton,all of Riverview,Fla,;and many nieces,nephews and friends. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Union Baptist Church,670 McMahon Ave.,Monessen,where services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m.with the Rev. Jack Howell officiating.  Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The William R. Taylor Funeral Home,645 McMahon Ave.,Monessen,is in charge of arrangements.
