George A. Evans,76,of Main St.,Pricedale,died Wednesday,Dec. 7,1977 at 6:45 p.m. in Charleroi Division of Mon Valley Hospital. He was born in Fayette City on Nov. 6,1901,son of the late Joseph and Sue Brown Evans. Mr. Evans had resided in Pricedale for more than 50 years,having formerly lived in Fayette City. He had worked at the Somers Mine in Pricedale and at the Clairton Works of United States Steel. He was a veteran of service with the U.S.Army during World War II. A son,George J. Evans,preceded him in death on June 10,1971. Surviving are his widow,Ann Evans,one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Betty) Echart of Pricedale,two brothers,Joseph Evans of Charleroi and Alden Evans of Donora;two sisters,Mrs. Hazel Jenkins and Mrs. Olive Payton,both of Charleroi,three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home,Belle Vernon,from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Howard Rodebaugh of Pricedale Union Church officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D.Ferguson is funeral director in charge.
