Obituary

Genevieve Belczyk Lubecki, 82, of Belle Vernon (Rostraver Township), died Monday, Jan. 16, 2006, at 12:15 p.m. in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born July 11, 1923, in Washington Township, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Josephine Schopp Belczyk. Mrs. Lubecki was a resident of Rostraver Township for the past 16 years, having previously resided in Fairhope. She was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church in Monessen and a homemaker. Along with her husband, Genevieve owned and operated Lubecki's Lounge in Fairhope for 40 years, retiring in 1989. She was an avid bingo player, enjoyed playing cards, traveling and, most importantly, loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She is survived by her husband, Ben Lubecki, to whom she was married 64 years, a daughter and son-in-law, Marcia Lubecki and husband Bill Smith, of Sunnyvale, Calif., three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ben and Linda Lubecki, of Manchester, Mo., Rick and Beverly Lubecki, of Belle Vernon, and Ray Lubecki and partner Chuck Higgins, of San Diego, Calif., a brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Gloria Belczyk, of Monessen, two sisters, sisters, Wanda Sobek, of Fairhope, and Irene Sobek, of Lynnwood, six grandchildren, Jeffrey Lubecki, Loriann Lucier, Jimmy Lubecki, Lindsay Lubecki, Stacey Sanders and Teri Smith, seven great-grandchildren, Jacob and Kayla Lubecki, Benjamin and Sadiejo Lucier, Lauryn Lubecki, and Stephen and Cassie Sanders. She was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Belczyk. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon (724-929-6183). A Prayer Service will be held Friday, Jan. 20, at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Epiphany of Our Lord R.C. Church, Monessen. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council 3026 will conduct services Thursday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Genevieve Lubecki to the charity of one's choice.
