Obituary

Pittsburgh police were still investigating today the shooting death Thursday night of a 28-year-old Monessen man, Gary Destefano of 1197 Leeds Ave. Police said Destefano's body was found Thursday at 11:40 p.m. in a parking lot at 3rd avenue and Market street in downtown Pittsburgh. He had been shot twice in the head with a .22-caliber weapon. Police have ruled out robbery as the motive since $272 in cash was found on his body. Destefano's 1975-model Cadillac had been impounded earlier Thursday when it was found illegally parked in the downtown area, police said. Mr. Destefano was born in New Eagle, on May 7,1951, the son of Samuel 0. (Sheek) and Muriel (Reese) Destefano — who survive. He was a former Monessen resident.
