Obituary

Fred Vance,67,of 321 Schoonmaker Ave.,Monessen,died Wednesday,Jan.1,1975,at 12,20 a.m. in Charleroi Division of Mon Valley Hospital. He was born in Fayette City on June 19,1907,and had worked as a toll collector on the Pennsylvania Turnpike until his retirement. He was a member of Monessen Eagles Lodge 2399. Surviving are his widow,Ann Guzzie Vance,two sons,Fred Vance of Detroit,Mich.,and William Vance of Monessen,one brother,Thomas Vance of Monongahela R.D.,two sisters,Mrs.Anna Mae Carlson of Perryopolis and Mrs.Robert (Margaret) Mclaughlin of Belle Vernon,and six grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Ed Melenyzer Funeral Home,Monessen,from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.Friday. Services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev.Howard E.Kennedy,pastor of First United Methodist Church,Belle Vernon,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Ed Melenyzer is funeral director in charge.
