Obituary

Fred Stringhill , 61, of 914 Broad Ave. Belle Vernon, died at 1:20 a.m. Thursday,Feb.19,1976,in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born in Fayette City on July 15, 1914 and had lived in Belle Vernon the past 55 years. Mr. Stringhill was a painting contractor. He was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Belle Vernon, where he served as an usher. He also belonged to the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659.He had served as a sergeant with the 841st Engineers during World War I I . Preceding him in death were his father,Joseph Stringhill, in 1968,his mother, Josephine Mazzei Stringhill in 1955,a sister, Innis, in 1971, and the following brothers: Orlando, in 1969, Charles in 1954, Frank in 1969, Rudolph, in January,1974, and James, in June of 1974. Surviving are the following brothers and sisters, Tony F. Stringhill and Samuel S. Stringhill, both of Belle Vernon, and Louis Stringhill, Lena S. Stringhill and Mrs. Janie Mitchell, with whom he resided. Friends w i l l be received at the Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home, Belle Vernon, from 7 in 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Belle Vernon. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D. Ferguson is funeral director in charge.
