Obituary

Fred M.Matthews of 223 Dull St.,Belle Vernon (Fairhope),died Friday,Oct.8,1982,at 8:55 a.m.in Mon Valley Hospital. He was 82. Mr.Matthews was born Sept.13,1900,in Cecil,a son of the late Victor and Marie Vandecassi Matthews. A resident of the Belle Vernon area for the past 36 years,Mr.Matthews was Catholic by faith. He retired in 1962 as a roller at the blooming mill of the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation's Monessen Plant. Mr.Matthews was a member of the Charleroi Homing Pigeon Club. Survivors include his widow,Eva Ruby Matthews,three sons,Fred H.of Martinsburg,W.Va.,Robert F.of Belle Vernon and Bernard P.of Monroeville,two daughters,Mrs.George (Claudia) Rossi of Long Branch and Mrs.Gerald (Donna) Jodon of Monongahela,one brother,Victor Matthews,13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends will be received in the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.,where services will be held on Sunday,Oct.10,at 1 p.m.with Allen Hamer,a member of Marion Presbyterian Church in Fairhope,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
