Obituary

When a delivery truck owned by Donald E. Jennings,of Warner,and driven by Joe Valovich,overturned on Route 40,near Scenery Hill,Saturday afternoon September 12,1936,at 3:30 o'clock, Fred Assenat,aged 20 years,son of John Assenat,of North Charleroi,sustained a fractured skull and internal injuries,which resulted in his death at 8:30 o'clock the same evening in a Washington hospital. The truck was headed toward Washington and had left the top of the hill near Scenery Hill,starting down the long grade when the accident happened. The driver steered his car to pass a car going in the opposite direction when it started swerving,finally turning over. Riding with the two was Arthur Jennings,a brother of the owner of the truck.  Arthur sustained a broken right wrist and a broken toe on his left foot.  The driver of the truck was bruised but not seriously injured.  The truck was used for the purpose of selling bakery products,the baked goods being purchased from the Clement's bakery in Charleroi. They were sold from the truck at various places throughtout the county.The victim of the accident lived with his mother,Mrs. Sarah Abbi Assenat,at 557 Conrad Avenue,North Charleroi.  The remains have been brought to the mother's home for burial.  The body may be viewed at the home until 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon,when funeral services will be held with a short service,followed by services at Washington Avenue Presbyterian Church at 2:30 in charge of Rev. F.S. Montgomery,the pastor. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
