Obituary

Fred Driver, aged 16 years,a son of Mr.and Mrs. John Driver was drowned at a swimming pool in the Monongahela river, near the Belle Vernon glass works Sunday afternoon August 24,1919,about 2 o'clock.  The young man was said to have been an inexperienced swimmer, but took the fatal plunge from a spring board in use at the pool.  When he did not come to the surface other bathers became alarmed and resue parties were quickly organized to secure the body.  It was not until 3:30 that the body was recovered and taken to Browneller's undertaking rooms, where it was prepared for burial.  The river at the point where the drowning occurred is quite deep which has made it a popular place for river bathing.
