Obituary

Frank R. Stancato, 90, of Fallowfield Township, formerly of Belle Vernon, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014. Born April 29, 1924, in Monessen, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Lena Reda Stancato. A resident of Fallowfield Township for the past six years and having previously resided in Belle Vernon, Mr. Stancato was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, Belle Vernon, and was a retired clerk from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen Plant. He was a Veteran of World War II where he served in the U.S. Navy, a member and past grand Knight of the Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council 3026, MARS, the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659, the Sons of Italy and was an avid golfer and bowler. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Debbie Stancato of Rostraver Township; daughter and son-in-law, Jo Ann and Don Destefano of Fallowfield Township; five grandchildren, Natalie Destefano and fiance, Ken Wiltz, Lindsay Farrell and husband, Jeremy, Vinnie Destefano and wife, Nicole, Jason Stancato and wife, Dawn, Christopher Matson; five great-grandchildren, Alana Matson, Sophia Stancato, Gabriel Stancato, Angelina Destefano, Vincenzo Destefano; and a sister, Ange Grimes of Indiana. He was preceded in death by his wife, Angelina Cefala Stancato on July 5, 1996; a daughter, Lena Stancato on Jan. 11, 1991; three brothers, Ned, Lou and Albert Stancato; and a sister Rose Arnoldi. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATIONS, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Prayer service will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. at St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Roger A. Statnick, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus will conduct services Friday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
