Frank Peroney,Jr. 10,of 425 May street, North Belle Vernon,died in McGinnis Hospital,Ligonier,at 8:25 p.m. Saturday, May 4,1953, 7 1/2 hours after he suffered a gunshot wound of the head accidently inflicted by his grandfather,Dalton D. Hilty,of 422 May street. The fatal accident took place at a cabin,which is owned by Mr. Hilty,eight miles west of Ligonier at 1 p.m. Mr. Hilty stated that he had pointed out a particular groundhog hole to young Frank on Friday night and on Saturday he saw movement in that area and thinking it was a groundhog fired the shot which killed his grandson. Surviving Frank, who was a fifth grader at North Belle Vernon School,are his parents,ant two sisters, Laura and Frances, all at home. Friends are being received at the Melenyzer-Ferguson Funeral Home,North Belle Vernon,where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. William Schatz,pastor of the Belle Vernon Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
