Slipping on wet grass while shooting rabbits in his garden,Frank Hajdu,75-year-old truck farmer of Fairhope, was accidentlly killed by the charge from a shotgun Monday morning,June 11,1956. Struck full in the chest by the blast from the ancient gun,Hajdu died unstantly at 7:30 a.m. His wife, blinded by cataracts, was standing about 10 feet from Hajdu when the accident occurred. She gave the alarm but Hajdu was dead when aid reached him. The blast tore completely through the left side of the chest. Hadju,as was his usual morning chore, went into his large truck garden about 7 a.m. Rabbits and squirrels had done considerable damage and he had the gun to get rid of the pests. Mr.Hajdu sold garden truck and vegetables in Fayette City,Belle Vernon and Charleroi.
