Obituary

Frank E. Wasco, 72, of Belle Vernon, Rostraver Township, died Saturday, May 3, 2003, at 12:15 p.m., at Manor Care, McMurray. Born Nov. 13, 1930, in North Charleroi, the son of the late Frank and Mary Sharkey Wasco. Mr. Wasco was a resident of Belle Vernon for the past 50 years. He was an active member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, Belle Vernon, where he served as an usher. He was a former member of the Parish Council and served with the annual CSC appeal. Mr. Wasco was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Monessen Plant, where he worked as an electrical draftsman. He also served as president of Tri-County Federation of Musicians, Local 592 A.F.M., he organized annual county parks summer concert series, served as secretary for Labor United, was a private pilot, retired major from the Civil Air Patrol, Auxiliary U.S. Air Force, Search and Rescue Operation, an officer of the Rostraver Flyers and a band leader and accordionist of the Clevelandairs. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Grzywinski Wasco, to whom he was married 48 years, three sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Diane Wasco of Bergholtz, Ohio, Ron and Mary Ann Wasco of Tyrone, Pa., and William and Lynn Wasco of Lawrence, Pa., two daughters, Kathy Gray of Monongahela and Melanie Wasco of Littleton, Colo., four grandchildren, Rachel, Matt and Leland Gray and Cassie J. Wasco, and a cousin, Billy Sharkey of Georgia. Visitation will be held Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. A prayer service will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, Belle Vernon. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of St. Sebastian Parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Frank E. Wasco, Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.
