Francis A. Hornbake,58,of 722 Washington Rd.,Belle Vernon,died Saturday,Sept. 23,1961,at 5 p.m. He was captain of police at the Monessen plant of the Pittsburgh Steel Co. He was a member of the St. Sebastian R.C.Church,Belle Vernon,the Holy Name Society,and was a Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Chapter of Belle Vernon. He was current treasurer of the Chapter. Survivors include his widow,Ethel Darker Hornbake,three sons, George of Belle Vernon,Tech.Sgt.Robert J.,in Japan,Brother M. Leonard,Lawrence Hornbake,at Abbey of Our Lady on New Melleary Monastery,Dubuque,Iowa.;two daughters, Mrs. Francis (Betty) McGuire of Belle Vernon, Marcella at home,three brothers,Cyril G.,Monessen,Harry of Pittsburgh,and Edwin of Ebensburg,two sisters, Katherine Lauderbaugh,of Craven Hill and Clara M. Dastas,of New Orleans,La.,and nine grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Toner Funeral Home,Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon from 1 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. Requiem High Mass will be sung Wednesday,Sept.27,at 10 a.m. in the St. Sebastian R.C.Church,Belle Vernon,by the Rev. Andrew King. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Harold R.Toner,funeral director.
