Frances Columbus Hohenberger;92;of 935 Beckford St.;New Castle;died Friday;Dec.27;1996;in Jameson Memorial Hospital. Born Jan.20;1904;in Donora;she was the daughter of the late Louis and Vera Boyd Columbus. Mrs.Hohenberger had been employed at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.;Monessen;where she had operated the executive dining room for 20 years. She was a member of the Independent Methodist Church in New Castle and the First Presbyterian Recreation Center. In addition to her parents whe was preceded in death by her husband;William S.Hohenberger;whom she married Sept.9;1920;and who died Dec.25;1985;three brothers;LeRoy;Clarence and Donald Columbus;four sisters;Lena Edwards;Grace Hayes;Wilda Mellon and Evelyn Columbus and a son;Sheldon Hohenberger. Surviving are one daughter;Delores Reiter of New Castle with whom she resided;one brother;William E.Columbus of New Castle;five grandchildren;and seven great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ed and Don DeCarbo Mill Street Funeral Home;941 S.Mill St.;New Castle;where services will be held Monday at 10 a.m.with the Rev.Fredrick Gilbert of Independent Methodist Church;New Castle;officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Ed and Don DeCarbo Mill Street Funeral Home.
