Frances O. Bowers of 604 Fayette Ave.,Belle Vernon died Tuesday, June 14,1988,at 2:30 p.m.at her home. She was 69. Mrs. Bowers was born April 18,1919,in Rostraver Township, a daughter of the late Francis W. and Mabel Houseman O'Hara. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Fayette City,where she had been a Sunday School teacher for 50 years. For the past 20 years,she had taught the Ambassadors for Christ Sunday School Class of the church. She was a 1937 graduate of Rostraver High School and also graduated from California Normal School. Mrs. Bowers was a school teacher for 32 years,retiring in 1981 from the Marion Elementary School in the Belle Vernon Area School District. In addition to her parents,she was preceded in death by a brother,William O'Hara,in 1984. Survivors include her husband,Addison A. Bowers;two daughters,Mrs. Jamie (Kathy) Kirsch of Pittsburgh and Mrs. Dennis (Sherry) Chernay of Belle Vernon;one sister,Mrs. Stanley (Ann) Barch of Belle Vernon;and three grandchildren,Beth Chernay and Julie and Michael Kirsch. Friends will be received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where services will be held Friday,June 17,at 11 a.m.,with the Rev. Wayne Boring,pastor of the First Christian Church of Fayette City,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetey. The Ferguson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
