Frances A. Hess,79,of 317 First Ave.,Belle Vernon,died at 7:05 a.m. Sunday,March 23,1980,in the Suburban General Hospital in Belle Vue,Pittsburgh. Born in Braznell,Pa.,on June 4,1900,she was the daughter of the late Fred and Sara Woods Thomas. A lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon area,she was preceded in death by a son,Thomas,who died on Dec. 24,1974,and her husband,John,who died Feb. 24,1978. She is survived by one daughter,Mrs. Edward (Lois) Fowler of Bellevue;a sister,Mrs. Nora White of Belle Vernon;five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,from 2 to 4 p.m.and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Services will be at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m.,with Pastor Hartzell A. Michael officiating. Interment will be at Belle Vernon Cemetery.
