Floyd M. Racey Jr., 89, of Fairhope, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, at 10:50 p.m. at Golden Living Center, Uniontown. Born June 18, 1925, in Fisher Hill, Va., he was the son of the late Floyd M. Racey Sr. and Keturah Wymer Racey. A resident of Fairhope for the past 69 years, Mr. Racey was a retired inspector from U.S. Steel Irvin Works and was a veteran of World War II where he served in the U.S. Army. He was a life member of the Washington Township volunteer fire department and worked their fire department bingos as the number caller and was a former assistant scout leader for the Fairhope Boy Scouts Troop 1. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Ronald Coates of Greenville, and Beverly and George Duda of Uniontown; two sons and daughter-in-law, Robert and Janet Baron of Washington Township, and Richard Racey of Rostraver; eight grandchildren, Robin Haney, Lynne Coates, Christine Coates, Eric Duda, Aaron Duda, Lee Baron, Robert Wood and Ronald Wood; 15 great-grandchildren, Jill Haney, Ed Haney, Zachary Coates, Savannah Duda, Natalie Duda, Hayden Baron, Landen Baron, Ethan Baron, Jonathan Wood, Jaclyn Wood, Jocelyn Wood, Kiera Wood, Caressa Wood, Josh Valdiserri and Jake Valdiserri; a great-great-granddaughter, Kinzy Valdiserri; a sister, Betty Lamp of Virginia Beach, Va.; a sister-in-law, Laura Pankiewicz of Arnold City; and a brother-in-law, Alvin Hazen of Zephryhills, Fla. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Dobosh Racey. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATIONS, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183.
