Florence S.Rossomme;91;of Charleroi;died Monday;July 26;1999;in Mon Valley Hospital;Carroll Township. Mrs.Rossomme was born Nov.12;1907;in Home;Pa.;the daughter of the late John and Martha Harmon Salsgiver. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Charleroi and the United Methodist Women. In October 1998;the church honored her;presenting her with a proclamation for her service to the church from the Borough of Charleroi. She was a past president and member of the Athene Club of Charleroi and a charter member of the Charleroi Historical Society. Mrs.Rossomme became a member of the Auxiliary of the former Charleroi-Monessen Hospital in North Charleroi in April of 1943. She served in various leadership positions with that unit;including three terms as president. She was also the historian for the hospital auxiliary. Through her efforts;the hospital organized a gift shop and developed several volunteer services for patients and their families. In addition;Mrs.Rossomme initiated and served as editor of The Pulse;a quarterly publication;produced by the Auxiliary for the Charleroi-Monessen Hospital from 1959 through 1976. This publication gained recognition on the state and national levels. In 1985;at the hospital’s annual Service Awards Dinner;Mrs.Rossomme was honored as the recipient of the Edward J.Protin Memorial Award. In 1993;Mrs.Rossomme received special recognition from the Auxiliary of Mon-Vale Health Resources;Inc.;for her 50 years of volunteer service as a hospital Auxilian and in the community. In May 1996;she was the recipient of the Gibbons Award of Dimensions in Service for the Health;Social and Civic Well-Being of Area Residents at the Double Tree Hotel in Pittsburgh. Surviving is her daughter;Doris Rossomme of Charleroi;and one sister;Grace Kritzer of Greensburg. She was preceded in death by her husband;Henry F.Rossomme;who died Jan.4;1986. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home Inc.;226 Fallowfield Ave.;Charleroi. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev.Ed Bailey officiating. Interment will be in the Belle Vernon Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church of Charleroi and the Mon Vale Health Resources;Inc.;Country Club Road;Monongahela;Pa.;in memory of Florence S.Rossomme.
