Obituary

Florence Fijewski Potega, 83, of Belle Vernon, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, in Mon Valley Hospital, Carroll Township. Born May 16, 1922, in Weirton, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Stanislaw and Frances Bolowski Fijewski. Mrs. Potega was a resident of Belle Vernon for the past 25 years, a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, Belle Vernon, the Legion of Mary at St. Sebastian Church and the Perry Traveler Club of Perryopolis. She is survived by a son, Patrick Potega, of Los Angeles, Calif., two daughters and a son-in-law, Nan and Walter Ziemba, of Belle Vernon, and Nadine Potega, of Coal Center, two sisters, Viola Runkel and Martha Bobola, both of West Virginia, and two grandsons, Matthew and Michael Potega. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry J. Potega, on Feb. 20, 1995, and several brothers. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon (724-929-6183). A Prayer Service will be held Friday, Sept. 9, at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Lawrence L. Manchas V.F., pastor, as celebrant. Entombment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of St. Sebastian parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Florence Potega on Thursday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.
