Fred Schuerhoff of 629 Ttenth St.,Monessen,owner and operator of Schuerhoff's Grocery,Knox Ave.,until his retirement,died Wednesday, Nov. 8,1961 at 11 a.m. at home after a lingering illness. Born in Elberfeld, Germany,he had operated a grocery store in Wilmerding for 19 years prior to coming to Monessen in 1922. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church,Monessen and the following organizations in Wilmerding: Oddfellows Lodge 1067, Knights of Pythias Lodge 319 and Modern Woodmen of America Camp 6859. He is survived by his widow,Dorthea; a daughter, Mrs. Katherine McAlpine,at home; a granddaughter, Mrs. Roderick (Kay) Dinnen of Cleveland,Ohio; a grandson,Dr. Frederick S. McAlpine of Boston, Mass and two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Daniel McAlpine. Friends are being received a the R.A. Billick Funeral Home,Monessen,where funeral services will be held Saturday,Nov.11, at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. John H. Schulz will officiate. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. R.A.
