Evelyn I. Hammitt Grant; 91; of Belle Vernon; died Wednesday; Dec. 28; 2005; in Havencrest Nursing Center. A daughter of the late William and Alice Griffith Hammitt; she was born in Belle Vernon on Sept. 11; 1914. She was a member of the Oil City Conference of Free Methodist Churches and the First Free Methodist Church of New Castle; one of several churches in which her late husband served as pastor. Survivors include one sister; Eleanor Bajoczky; of Tallahassee; Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband; the Rev. James W. Grant; in 1989; two sisters and one brother; Amy Sterner; Helen Jackson and Herman Hammitt.
