Eugene W.Prentice;74;of 1009 Meadow Ave.;Charleroi;died Saturday;Dec.16;1989;at 12:50 p.m.in the Meadow Crest Nursing Home;Library;Pa. Mr.Prentice was born March 30;1915;in Webster;a son of the late James A.and Clara Gilmer Prentice. He was a retired employee of the Monessen Southwestern Railroad. Protestant by faith;Mr.Prentice was a U.S.Marine Corps veteran of World War II. His wife;Mary E.Prentice;died in 1986. Three sisters and six brothers are also deceased. Surviving are one brother;Dave Prentice;of Aberdeen;Md.;four sisters;Marion DiMascio of Chatsworth;Calif.;Marie Saunders of Charleroi;Georgina Hixson of Donora and Gladys Hurley of Charleroi;and several nieces and nephews. Friends were received Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Carl J.Spallino Funeral Home;819 Fallowfield Ave.;Charleroi. Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home;with the Rev.Paul R.Milliken;pastor;First United Methodist Church;Charleroi;officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Carl J.Spallino Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
